The turning operation which precede the heat treatment phase and the grinding operations, prepares the rings in a rough condition so that the final dimensions can be achieve by the consecutive operations. Turning is carried out by CNC lathes, so if the part allows it, the part can be finished in soft turning condition with good tolerances.
